• Average Daily Surgical Cases: ~30

Required Certification

• BLS (Required)

Common Surgical Cases

• General Surgery
• Orthopedic Surgery
• Gynecology (GYN)
• Urology
• Ophthalmology
• Vascular Surgery
• Plastic Surgery

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of OR RN circulating experience preferred
• RN Scrubbing: Not required

Leadership & Support

• Charge RN assigned each shift
• Nursing Supervisor available 24/7
• OR Technologists (ORTs) assist with surgical procedures

Charting System

• Meditech

Scheduling

• No self-scheduling
• Staff may collaborate when determining call schedules
• Rotating schedule based on department needs

Call Requirements

Weekday Call

• Required
• Evening and night call
• Rotating 8-hour call shifts

Weekend Call

• Required
• Rotating 8-hour call shifts
• Must be available for all assigned shifts

Holiday Call

• Rotational holiday call coverage

Call Response Time

• 30 minutes

Floating

• May float to Endoscopy when OR census is low

Dress Code

• Hospital-provided surgical scrubs (scrub vending machine)

Orientation

• 2–4 OR orientation shifts with a preceptor
