We are seeking an experienced Interim Controller to step into a critical leadership role supporting a team of Client Accounting Managers during an unexpected leave of absence. This position requires a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, highly reactive environment and can provide steady oversight across day‑to‑day commercial real estate accounting operations.
About the Role
The Interim Controller will oversee 4–5 Client Accounting Managers, ensuring continuity of service and accuracy across all daily accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial clients. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to established processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to a team of 4–5 Client Accounting Managers
- Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple commercial clients
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Navigate and support workflows within Yardi and Workday
- Respond quickly to issues and requests in a highly reactive environment
- Maintain accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across all deliverables
Qualifications
- Advanced accounting and finance experience
- Strong GAAP expertise
- Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams
- Ability to thrive in a reactive, fast‑moving environment
- Experience with Yardi and/or Workday preferred
- Commercial real estate accounting experience is a plus
Work Arrangement
- Local candidates (St. Louis area): Onsite 2–3 days per week
- Non‑local candidates: 100% remote considered
