The Working Foreman at AERI plays a crucial role in line clearance tree trimming, ensuring the safe management of vegetation near power lines and utility infrastructure. This position demands expertise in tree care, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to excel in challenging environments.
This is a union position for PG&E contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Line Clearance Tree Trimming: Safely trim trees and manage vegetation in line clearance operations, adhering to industry standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.
- Ground Operations: Contribute to site preparation, debris management, and cleanup to maintain a safe and organized worksite.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly follow safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, reflective vests, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate and maintain tools and equipment, including chainsaws, pole saws, and chippers, ensuring they remain in proper working order. Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Team Collaboration: Work cohesively with the crew to achieve project objectives, fostering a supportive and efficient team environment.
- Site Preparation & Teardown: Assist with organizing and dismantling job sites and equipment as required.
- Hazard Identification: Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices, helping to mitigate potential risks.
- Communication: Follow directions from the foreperson and communicate effectively with team members to ensure accurate task execution.
- Worksite Organization: Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 18 months of verifiable climbing experience in line clearance tree trimming.

Knowledge:
- Proper pruning practices, including techniques for large shade trees and ornamentals.
- Native and introduced tree and shrub species, including their characteristics.
- Safety protocols and operation of chainsaws, chippers, and other equipment.
- Tree climbing and bucket truck operation.

Skills:
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Quick learner with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong commitment to adhering to safety requirements.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of climbing and standing on ladders or raised platforms at extreme heights.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for extended periods and push or pull up to 70 pounds.
- Capability to work in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

- Willingness to travel as required.
