Reporting to the Senior Manager for Teacher Programs, the Education Program Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative support to three new projects in the School and Youth Programs department: Teacher Professional Development, Family Nature Club, and the Climate Action Module. All initiatives are anchored in action-oriented and transdisciplinary learning.

About the Role:

The Program Coordinator is generally responsible for coordinating program logistics, managing program communications, tracking data, addressing inquiries, and representing the Academy to our growing network of educators and families. For Teacher Professional Development, this position supports the Senior Manager for Teacher Programs and Director of School and Youth Programs by creating and managing a comprehensive communications plan for recruitment and program announcements, maintaining a participant database, and overseeing the stipend payment process. Working with the Family Nature Club Program Manager (FNC), the Program Coordinator will manage the recruitment database, create and manage programmatic communications, assist with materials preparation and organization, and attend all program sessions. For the Climate Action Module, this position will work closely with the Curriculum Specialist, the Director of School and Youth Programs, and the Chief of Education and Learning to support the recruitment of formal and informal educators serving SFUSD, manage all communications with educators during the pilot process, and manage logistics for preparing and launching the events.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, FNC Manager, and Director of School and Youth Programs to develop and manage a communication plan, from recruitment to completion, for all three projects.
  • Send routine communications including those related to recruitment, scheduling, reminders, and announcements.
  • Support the collection and maintenance of participant data for all three projects.
  • Support the Program Managers to ensure that the programs meet all the articulated goals and outputs.
  • Document and generate reports with the insights from all programs' sessions and events
  • Provide up-to-date program statistics and stories of impact for fundraising and marketing efforts; inform grant proposals as needed.
  • Provide day-of support for Family Nature Club events on weekends and afternoons.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Specialist and Director of School and Youth programs to organize and launch all sessions to test the resources for the Climate Action Module.
  • Support all other tasks and goals as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: A qualified candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:

EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:

  • 1-2 years of administrative experience working in data and communications management or applicable experience preferred.
  • 1- 2 years of experience providing outstanding customer service, preferably to users of educational products or programs.
  • College-level coursework, professional training, or experience in one or more of the following fields: museum education, human resources, volunteer management, or other relevant field.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational skills; able to juggle multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities and anticipate workflow
  • Strong administrative skills, including fluency in GoogleSuite and Microsoft programs, as well as the ability to adapt to new technologies and systems
  • Detail oriented and with ability to follow written or verbal instructions
  • Commitment to keeping processes accurate and efficient
  • Accessible and enthusiastic customer service skills and public speaking abilities
  • Excellent public speaking, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate regularly with program participants, staff, partners, and the public, and respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Curiosity, creativity, and commitment to tackling complex problems; ability to foresee obstacles, recommend solutions, and collaborate on action steps

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work at a computer communicating with others in person, on the telephone, and online. Ability to perform repetitive motions 25% of the time.

  • Ability to transport 50 lbs with assistance

Ability to safely work in both outdoor and indoor environments that may include stairs, uneven paths, loose substrates, and secure access areas. May require time on the museum public floor which includes: frequent travel across concrete floors and bark while transporting materials, intervals of time outdoors in varying environmental conditions, extensive public speaking often in noisy environments, and exposure to high levels of noise.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary for this position is $30.63 - 31.86 / hr. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, skills/knowledge set, and internal equity. We believe in fair and equitable compensation practices and are committed to providing competitive salaries within the industry and market standards. The Academy offers a total compensation package that emphasizes both base salary and comprehensive benefits based on the hours per week worked. Further details regarding compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
