Manufacturing Supervisor
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Rolling Mill Manufacturing Supervisor to lead daily operations within our rolling mill facility. Direct, hands-on experience in a rolling mill environment is required for this role. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical knowledge of rolling processes, and a commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, People, and Cost.
This role is responsible for overseeing rolling mill production, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and daily supervision to rolling mill production employees and team leads.
- Oversee all rolling mill operations, including setup, changeovers, throughput, and process optimization.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, with a strong focus on hazard identification and mitigation in a rolling mill environment.
- Monitor and drive key performance metrics including yield, scrap reduction, uptime, and production efficiency specific to rolling operations.
- Address performance issues promptly and support employee training and development within the rolling mill team.
- Plan and schedule rolling mill production, including staffing, maintenance coordination, and workflow optimization.
- Manage production documentation such as load sheets, scrap reporting, routers, system entries, dashboards, and work orders.
- Lead and support NCR, CAR, SOP, and continuous improvement initiatives related to rolling mill performance and quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, MRP, Maintenance, and Engineering to meet production goals and customer requirements.
- Ensure equipment reliability by coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs for rolling mill machinery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe rolling mill work environment.
- Foster a positive team culture through consistent communication, accountability, and responsiveness to employee concerns.
- Contribute to operational excellence initiatives and support broader organizational goals
Required Qualifications
- MANDATORY: Minimum 2+ years of direct experience in a rolling mill manufacturing environment (steel, aluminum, or related metals).
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience supervising employees in a heavy industrial or metal manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of rolling mill processes, equipment, and production flow.
- Experience driving improvements in yield, efficiency, and downtime reduction within a rolling operation.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and production tracking systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage production schedules, analyze performance data, and meet operational targets.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced, high-demand manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working with changing priorities and production demands.
