Director of Strategic Sourcing
Providence, RI (Hybrid - 3x weekly)
Summary:
This role is responsible for defining and executing the procurement strategy for direct materials, managing approximately $250 million in spend. The position focuses on achieving financial targets, fostering talent development, and ensuring procurement success through strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and supplier relationship management. The Director will coordinate and oversee a team of buyers responsible for executing daily procurement activities, including purchase order creation.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management: Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives across Lottery business categories, including hardware and print materials
- Supplier Relationship & Performance Management: Establish and nurture strong global supplier relationships, driving performance, innovation, and risk mitigation. Conduct regular supplier business reviews, create performance scorecards, and implement continuous improvement programs.
- Cost Optimization & Compliance: Identify and execute cost-savings strategies while maintaining quality, delivery, and regulatory compliance. Lead value engineering initiatives where applicable and ensure adherence to global procurement policies and industry standards.
- Contract Negotiation & Risk Management: Lead complex contract negotiations to secure favorable terms while reducing legal and operational risks. Manage risks associated with global supply chain volatility, geopolitical challenges, and tariffs.
- Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Mentor and lead a high-performing procurement team. Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Quality, Accounting, Engineering, Operations, and Logistics to support business growth and customer contract obligations.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee procurement operations, including RFPs, RFQs, contract management, and purchase order execution. Drive process improvements through advanced procurement tools (e.g., ERP systems, e-sourcing platforms) and maintain ISO 9001 certification standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field
- Minimum: 8 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Preferred: 12+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Strong understanding of global events and policies affecting procurement strategies, including competitor sourcing practices.
- Expertise in solving both technical and interpersonal challenges to foster supplier relationships and ensure seamless product delivery despite supply chain disruptions.
- Experience in managing supplier performance through adaptable strategies, driving innovative solutions to address urgent business needs.
- Ability to negotiate and manage complex contractual arrangements internationally, requiring cultural awareness and business acumen.
