PAY GRADE: $20.00 to $33.25 per hour / DOE
General Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented ACI Transportation Inspector Assistant to join our team in Rapid City, South Dakota. This role will support our transportation inspection projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in construction and a desire to grow within our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the ACI Transportation Inspector in conducting inspections of transportation infrastructure projects.
• Help verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and ACI standards.
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports.
• Participate in field testing of construction materials, including concrete and asphalt.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address any issues or concerns.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed on-site and report any safety hazards promptly.
• Uses observation and/or testing to identify faults in materials or products.
• Consult with supervisor to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of inspection activities.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Required Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in construction management or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction environment, preferred.
• ACI certification or willingness to obtain the certification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Basic knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Competent with MS Office products (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform the physical tasks as needed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand or sit for long periods of time, access roofs, crawl spaces and all construction areas.
• Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
• Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug & alcohol free workplace policies.
