Job Overview


The Machinist A is a skilled professional responsible for performing precision machining tasks to support production and engineering requirements. This role demands strong technical expertise in CNC setup, programming, and operation, as well as the ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and quality.


Key Responsibilities


  • Operate, program, and set up CNC lathes, vertical, and horizontal milling machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
  • Select appropriate tooling, verify dimensions, and ensure all components meet specifications.
  • Adjust programs and machine settings to maintain quality standards and tight tolerances.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for jobs, tooling, and setups.
  • Follow all safety procedures and support a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the machining department.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
  • Hands-on experience with horizontal machining centers preferred.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Machine Tool Technology preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming, setup, and tool selection.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet production goals.
  • Proficiency with CNC programming software and standard computer applications.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform extended standing and physical activities.
  • Consistent attendance, reliability, and teamwork are essential.
