Position Overview:
The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in leading the ACCEL Schools campus and is responsible for executing the school's academic vision, supporting student achievement, and ensuring effective daily operations. The Assistant Principal plays a critical role in driving instructional excellence, fostering a strong school culture, and maintaining operational and compliance systems that lead to successful outcomes for all students.
The Assistant Principal shall be responsible for:
Instructional Leadership:
- Support the implementation of the school's instructional vision, including curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Execute instructional coaching cycles with fidelity, including classroom observations, feedback, and follow-up to improve teacher effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Utilize assessment data to drive instructional decisions, interventions, and academic planning.
- Monitor and support the consistent implementation of a standards-based curriculum aligned to state standards and ACCEL Schools expectations.
- Conduct frequent walkthroughs and monitor lesson planning to ensure rigor, engagement, and alignment to best practices.
- Support the delivery of high-quality instruction that results in measurable student achievement gains.
- Execute and support the school's professional development plan, ensuring staff receive consistent, actionable training aligned to instructional priorities.
- Support and monitor school-wide behavior systems, including PBIS, to ensure consistent expectations and a positive school culture.
- Support the implementation and compliance of the Special Education program to ensure students receive appropriate services and demonstrate academic progress.
- Support extended learning opportunities, including before/after school programs and summer programming.
Team Leadership:
- Support the development of a strong, collaborative professional culture focused on accountability and results.
- Execute components of the teacher evaluation process in alignment with the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) and ACCEL Schools expectations.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to teachers to improve instructional practice and classroom management.
- Support implementation of the school's professional development plan, ensuring staff receive consistent and meaningful training.
- Collaborate with staff to implement student support systems that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Model professionalism, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Organizational Leadership:
- Support the management of daily school operations, including student discipline, attendance, and campus safety.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and sponsor requirements, including accurate and timely reporting.
- Partner with the Principal and Home Office/Operations Team to execute systems related to student data, assessments, scheduling, and school operations.
- Support student recruitment and retention efforts, contributing to enrollment and persistence goals.
- Assist in maintaining accurate student records, attendance data, and compliance documentation.
- Support implementation of operational programs such as food service, transportation, and student services.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Principal and Regional leadership regarding school needs and performance.
- Assist with development and maintenance of school communications, calendars, handbooks, and policies.
- Ensure a safe, orderly, and productive school environment for all students and staff.
Community Leadership:
- Support strong relationships with families through consistent, timely, and professional communication.
- Serve as a key point of contact for student-related matters, including academics, behavior, and attendance.
- Promote and uphold the school's mission, vision, and values in all interactions.
- Support family engagement initiatives, including orientations, conferences, and school events.
- Assist in developing partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
- Address parent and student concerns promptly and effectively.
- Participate in student support meetings and conduct home visits as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred.
- Valid Ohio Principal/Assistant Principal license and teaching license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional leadership, teacher coaching, or school administration preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting student achievement and instructional improvement.
- Experience with teacher evaluation systems, instructional coaching, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of Ohio State Standards and accountability systems.
- Experience with compliance, reporting, and school operations preferred.
- Successful completion of federal and state background checks.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - 75,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
