The Research Scientist provides assistance with scientific and technical support on assigned projects. In addition to assisting in medical device development and the device approval process, this position provides support in research, development, and quality control testing. This involves operating laboratory instruments, samples preparation, recording data, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.


This role is onsite in West Chester, PA.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing R&D studies and experiments.
  • Prepare samples, reagents and research materials as required.
  • Perform routine R&D stability studies for alternative packaging evaluation, complaint samples analysis and competing products testing under supervision of R&D Director.
  • Operating, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment, accurately documenting test results and observations.
  • Perform stability data analysis using Excel, Statgraphics and Minitab.
  • Draft study protocols and collecting results on material compatibility activity of against alternative dressing materials .
  • Draft studies reports.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations regarding on-going stability studies and competing products.
  • Design experiments for new product development.
  • Participate in Technical Meetings with Urgo Research, Innovation and Development (URID), as required.
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, and quality management.
  • Attend training on Test Methods for HOCl formulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Exhibits a strong sense of energy and enthusiasm, consistently approaching challenges with passion and a proactive attitude.
  • Self-starter, initiative-taker, and a fast learner; must work efficiently responding to changing priorities.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biochemistry, or bioengineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, illustrations, and written documents.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in results documentation and presentation.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a lab; familiar with design control processes.
  • Experience with statistical software is plus
  • Prior research or laboratory experience, including familiarity with GLP, GMP, ISO 13485-2016 and product development are plus, but not required


Work Environment

  • Indoors, in a lab or office environment, with temperature control.
  • 10-20% domestic travel, with the potential for international travel

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Safety apparel is required in the lab or production areas.
