Registered Respiratory Therapist Adult Critical Care
Location: Winston-Salem, NC | Job Type: Contract
A Level 1 Trauma, teaching academic medical center with 885 licensed beds is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for adult critical care. This role supports patients across ICU and Medical/Surgical floors, providing care for a diverse range of diagnoses including post-surgical care, pneumonia, COPD, asthma, and emergency department cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver critical respiratory care to adult patients based on departmental needs and acuity levels
- Manage respiratory therapy equipment such as Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, and cough assist devices
- Collaborate closely with lead therapists and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in departmental orientation and ongoing teamwork-focused environment
- Work scheduled shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with weekend rotation every other week and coverage for approximately 75% of holidays (no on-call required)
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of critical care respiratory therapy experience required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a valid North Carolina license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; CRT credential is acceptable but not preferred
- Prior experience in a Level 1 trauma center or similarly high-acuity setting preferred
- Familiarity with the facilitys respiratory technology including advanced ventilators and respiratory support devices
- Ability to adapt to unit assignments based on skill set and patient care demands
