Job Type: Contract (Local Candidates Preferred)
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 08:50 AM – 03:40 PM
Position Overview
A school-based educational setting is seeking a dedicated Special Education (SPED) Teacher with experience in Autism support to work with high school students in a specialized classroom environment.
This role involves delivering individualized instruction, providing behavioral support, and implementing academic modifications to ensure students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) can successfully access curriculum and meet their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Deliver direct, differentiated instruction tailored to students with Autism
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Implement behavioral intervention and classroom management strategies
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia Teaching License (Special Education endorsement preferred)
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
- Knowledge of IEP development and compliance requirements
- Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills

- Experience in structured or self-contained classroom settings
- Ability to implement behavioral and social-emotional supports
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
