IEW Construction Group is seeking an HR/Payroll Intern who will support the Human Resources and Payroll teams with day‑to‑day tasks related to employee onboarding, payroll processing, data management, and HR administration. This role offers hands‑on experience with core HR functions, payroll systems, compliance processes, and employee records management. The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
HR Support
- Assist with onboarding tasks, including reviewing new‑hire documentation and setting up employee profiles.
- Help maintain accurate employee records.
- Support recruitment efforts by screening résumés, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Participate in HR projects such as engagement initiatives, training logistics, and policy updates.
- Assist in preparing HR reports, presentations, and documentation.
Payroll Support
- Assist with collecting and verifying timesheets and hours worked.
- Help review payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with union policies.
- Support payroll audits, data validation, and reporting.
- Update employee information in payroll systems under supervision.
- Help research payroll‑related inquiries and assist employees with routine questions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when handling sensitive data.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with HRIS or payroll systems is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Be interested in HR operations, payroll, compliance, or data analysis.
- Experience with Excel functions (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) is a bonus.
- Prior internship or office experience helpful but not required.
