Electronic Component Assembler/Coil Winder
Job Description
Job Description
About the Role
Do you take pride in precision work and have the steady hands to prove it? We’re looking for a detail-driven Electronic Component Assembler / Coil Winder to build precision units from the ground up. Working from schematics and blueprints, you’ll measure, wire, solder, and test components—then fine-tune them until they meet exact specifications. If you enjoy hands-on work where quality really matters, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
• Prep each job by studying parts lists and gathering the parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials you’ll need
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions
• Assemble components—checking connections for proper fit and fastening parts and subassemblies together
• Hand-solder a variety of components
• Load materials such as workpieces and machine parts onto coiling equipment
• Operate wire-coiling machines to wind coils for electrical components (resistors, transformers, bobbins, generators, and more)
• Attach, trim, and adjust wire, insulation, and coils using hand tools
• Cut, strip, and bend wire leads using pliers and wire scrapers
• Run quality-control checks and test finished pieces against customer schematic requirements, confirming every unit passes the parameters laid out in the product specs
• Record production and operational data on the required forms
• Keep your work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe
What We’re Looking For
• Previous electronic component assembly experience (machining experience is a plus)
• A sharp eye for quality control and a safety-first mindset
• Strong dexterity and hand-eye coordination—you’ll be handling parts that are often very small
• Comfort reading technical schematics, blueprints, and written instructions
• Solid math skills: fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions applied to real-world tasks
• Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to a variety of situations
• Color vision (needed for color-coded wiring work)
• Good time management plus clear written and verbal communication
• A professional manner, strong work ethic, and willingness to take on increasingly challenging tasks
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• Manufacturing certifications are a plus
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This is a hands-on, shop-floor role. You’ll regularly stand, walk, sit, reach, and use your hands, with occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. You may occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds. The job requires close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to distinguish color. The noise level is typically moderate, and there is occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
