Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plumber III to perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems across county buildings and facilities.
This role is responsible for installing and repairing fixtures, piping systems, backflow systems, and lift stations, as well as diagnosing complex plumbing issues such as under slab leaks. The Plumber III will interpret building plans, coordinate with contractors, maintain irrigation systems, and support water and sewer services.
The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently on complex plumbing systems while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time plumbing experience demonstrating advanced competency in the field
- Possession of a valid State of Florida or local Master Plumber License, or equivalent from another state or county
- Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems including piping, fixtures, pumps, and water systems
- Experience with backflow systems, lift stations, and sewer systems
- Experience diagnosing and repairing complex plumbing issues, including under slab leaks
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, and technical specifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate work vehicles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Experience Preferences
- Experience working in government, municipal, or large facility environments
- Familiarity with construction codes, plumbing regulations, and safety standards
- Experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Experience coordinating with contractors and overseeing project work
- Leadership or mentoring experience guiding lower-level plumbers
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy tools, equipment, and materials
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions including heat, noise, and confined spaces
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
Education Preferences
- Completion of an accredited plumbing apprenticeship program
- Additional certifications in plumbing systems, backflow prevention, or related specialties
