Position Summary:
The Electrical and Electronics Test Technician is responsible for performing functional, environmental, and diagnostic testing on electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems. This role ensures all products meet design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The technician will work closely with engineers to identify issues, troubleshoot failures, and maintain test equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical and electronic testing of components, subassemblies, and final products according to engineering specifications and test procedures.
- Operate and maintain automated and manual test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and specialized test setups.
- Conduct functional, continuity, insulation resistance, hipot, and performance testing.
- Assist in environmental testing, including thermal cycling, vibration, burn-in, and other reliability assessments.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, test plans, and technical documents to execute test procedures.
- Identify, isolate, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic failures; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Record test results accurately in logs, reports, or databases to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Support engineering teams during product development, validation, and qualification activities.
- Maintain calibration, safety, and operational readiness of test stations and equipment.
- Follow all ESD, safety, and cleanroom protocols where applicable.
- Assist in developing and improving test fixtures, setups, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve product reliability.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 2+ years of experience in electrical/electronic test environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, analog/digital circuits, and electrical measurement principles.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, hipot tester, function generator, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with test data collection software or ERP/MES systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- IPC, J-STD-001, or related electronics assembly/testing certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or aerospace/defense/military standards is desirable.
