Job Description
Senior Acquisition Specialist
About the Role
Metrics is seeking a Senior Acquisition Specialist to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Acquisition Management (OAQ). We've bid on this effort and are waiting to hear back. This role supports high-visibility, mission-critical procurement activities in a fast-paced federal law enforcement environment.
This is a hands-on acquisition role. You will support Contracting Officers directly, draft FAR-compliant documentation, manage multiple acquisition actions concurrently, and deliver work that is ready for review, signature, and audit.
If you’ve spent years inside federal contracting offices doing the real work—and you can step in on day one—this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cradle-to-grave acquisition support for federal procurement actions
- Support acquisition planning, including requirements refinement, market research, and milestone development
- Draft and support RFQs, RFPs, IFBs, acquisition plans, IGCEs, JOFOCs, D&Fs, and evaluation documentation
- Support source selection activities, including evaluator coordination and consensus documentation
- Prepare award documentation, post-award notices, and contract file documentation
- Support contract administration, including modifications, option exercises, and closeout activities
- Maintain audit-ready contract files in PRISM and SharePoint
- Validate contract data in SAM.gov and FPDS
- Coordinate closely with Contracting Officers, CORs, legal counsel, and program offices
- Mentor junior acquisition staff and support surge requirements as needed
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of federal acquisition experience supporting contracting offices
- Demonstrated experience with FAR-based acquisition execution, including FAR Parts 6, 8, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17
- Hands-on experience drafting acquisition documentation (not advisory-only roles)
- Experience supporting high-volume, high-visibility procurement environments
- Proficiency with PRISM (strongly preferred)
- Experience with SAM.gov, FPDS, and SharePoint-based contract file management
- Ability to work independently and deliver clean, defensible work products
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience substitution)
Preferred Qualifications
- FAC-C Level II or III, DAWIA Level II or III, or equivalent
- Prior experience supporting DHS, ICE, DOJ, VA, or DoD acquisition offices
- Experience supporting law enforcement, security, or operational mission procurements
- Experience mentoring or leading junior acquisition staff
What Success Looks Like
- Acquisition actions move forward without rework or delays
- Documentation stands up to audit, legal review, and oversight
- Contracting Officers trust your drafts and recommendations
- You can absorb shifting priorities without losing control of deadlines
