Join us as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman and become a vital advocate for residents in nursing homes, assisted living, and foster care facilities across East Texas! In this role, you'll provide confidential support to residents and their families, helping resolve concerns and ensuring their rights are protected. You'll also build strong relationships with professionals in the long-term care system, ensuring that residents receive the best possible care.
As a Long-Term Care Ombudsman, you'll investigate complaints, provide valuable information and referrals, and assist in training and supporting a team of certified volunteer ombudsmen. You'll also have the opportunity to deliver educational in-services to facilities and community groups, all while working on special state assignments and projects to enhance the quality of life for individuals in care. Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in public administration, gerontology, sociology, psychology, or long-term care administration is preferred; equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered. Three years of experience in social service programs, communication skills, casework, complaint resolution and interventions required; prior experience with the elderly population; must become a certified ombudsman before fully participating in this position. *This position will be servicing the Gregg County & Upshur County locations within the ETCOG Region.
East Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of counties, cities, school districts and special districts within the fourteen-county East Texas region. We assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit and coordinating for sound regional development. Either directly, or through our contractors, ETCOG provides programs and services for East Texas seniors, employers and job seekers. We also build the 9-1-1 emergency call delivery system, provide peace officer training and homeland security planning services; and deliver rural transportation services, business finance programs, grant writing services and environmental grant funding for the region.
