ShortE's Bbq in Johnston, IA is looking for one host/hostess to join our team.
The Restaurant Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, managing reservations and waitlists, and coordinating the seating of guests in an efficient and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests warmly and professionally as they enter the restaurant
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists using [reservation system, if applicable]
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus
- Communicate wait times accurately and courteously
- Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth flow of service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Answer phone calls and assist with inquiries or to-go orders, if applicable
- Monitor the dining room to anticipate guest needs and manage table turnover
- Uphold company service standards and hospitality values
Qualifications:
- Previous customer service or hosting experience preferred, but not required
- Friendly, positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer or POS system skills a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently in a busy environment
