Location: Rutherford, Asbury Park NJ, NYC, Salem, MA
Salary: $75k- $90k + competitive benefits

Position Overview
We are a multi-state and multi-discipline engineering firm proud to be expanding our client base and suite of offered services. We are seeking motivated Design Engineers for several of our key geographic hubs to support site development projects from concept through construction. The role focuses on civil design deliverables including grading, site layout, and zoning compliance, using AutoCAD and related design tools to produce clear, constructible plans. The ideal candidate will apply strong civil engineering fundamentals to stormwater management, permitting, and interfacing with clients, regulators, and contractors to deliver practical, code-compliant solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare site development drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for grading, utilities, drainage, and site layout.
  • Perform site grading plans, earthwork calculations, and develop cost-conscious grading solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with local zoning regulations, municipal codes, and permit requirements; prepare permit packages and coordinate with permitting authorities.
  • Analyze stormwater management needs and design drainage systems; prepare calculations and reports using HydroCAD or similar tools when required.
  • Develop hydraulic and drainage models to evaluate conveyance, detention, and erosion control measures.
  • Produce clear technical reports, specifications, and construction details; support technical writing for proposals and permit narratives.
  • Coordinate with landscape architects, environmental specialists, surveyors, and other stakeholders to integrate site elements and minimize environmental impact.
  • Conduct field visits and inspections to verify site conditions, assist during construction, and resolve on-site design issues.
  • Support project management tasks including schedule tracking, client communication, and coordination with contractors and subconsultants.
  • Apply quality control review processes to ensure accuracy of drawings, calculations, and compliance with project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field; EIT or PE license preferred.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in site/civil design or land development projects; experience with grading, zoning, and site layout required.
  • Proven proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with stormwater design and modeling tools (HydroCAD or equivalent) and understanding of stormwater best management practices.
  • Hands-on experience preparing permit applications, zoning reviews, and technical narratives.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to produce clear engineering reports and specifications.
  • Practical knowledge of soil erosion and sediment control, environmental impact considerations, and drainage design.
  • Experience with field inspection and construction support; comfortable working on-site as needed.
  • Demonstrated project management and collaboration skills, including client interaction and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites; flexibility to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
