Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to support the development, assembly, testing, and repair of electronic assemblies and cable harnesses. The successful candidate will work closely with design and production engineers to build and troubleshoot PCBs and PCBA, perform SMT and through-hole soldering, carry out rework and quality inspections, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure products meet performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and solder electronic components using SMT and through-hole techniques according to work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Perform PCB and PCBA assembly tasks including component placement, reflow, wave soldering, hand soldering, and selective soldering as required.
  • Conduct rework, repair, and modification of circuit boards and assemblies using microscopes, hot air stations, soldering irons, and rework stations.
  • Build, test, and repair cable harnesses and wiring assemblies, including crimping, routing, and connector installation.
  • Carry out visual and electrical inspections, functional testing, and troubleshooting using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and specialized test fixtures.
  • Maintain detailed assembly, test, and rework documentation, including traveler sheets, test logs, nonconformance reports, and change records.
  • Follow ESD, safety, and quality-control procedures to ensure reliability and compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers to support prototype builds, design verification, and problem resolution; provide feedback for manufacturability and design improvements.
  • Operate and maintain soldering and assembly equipment, microscopes, and inspection tools; ensure proper calibration and cleanliness of work area.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices for soldering, assembly, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Proven hands-on soldering skills: SMT, surface mount rework, and thru-hole soldering; comfortable with fine-pitch components and BGA rework.
  • Experience with PCB and PCBA assembly, component placement, and inspection techniques.
  • Practical experience building and testing cable harnesses, wiring assemblies, and connector work.
  • Familiarity with inspection and test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and microscopes.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610) and soldering quality requirements preferred; IPC certification is a plus.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for maintaining assembly, test, and quality records.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
  • Knowledge of ESD control procedures, safe handling of electronic assemblies, and basic workshop safety.
  • Good communication skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and willingness to learn and train others.
