Buyer I
Overview
The Buyer I position at Tech(x) serves as a mid-level procurement professional supporting federal and commercial acquisition activities within a structured, compliance-driven environment. This role is responsible for executing purchasing actions in alignment with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements, internal procurement policies, and customer-specific directives.
The Buyer I functions as an integral member of the supply chain and logistics team, ensuring the timely acquisition, tracking, and reconciliation of materials, equipment, and services required to support mission-critical operations—particularly within DoD and federal program environments. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational capability, and the ability to operate within ERP systems while coordinating across internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Responsibilities
- Procurement & Acquisition Execution
- Perform purchasing functions in accordance with FAR, DFARS (as applicable), and company procurement policies under supervisory guidance.
- Generate and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders (POs) within ERP systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
- Support sourcing activities by obtaining quotes, evaluating vendor capabilities, and assisting in vendor selection in compliance with competition requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation of procurement actions, including price reasonableness determinations and vendor communications.
- ERP System & Data Management
- Maintain and continuously update procurement records, vendor files, and transactional data within ERP systems (e.g., Unanet, Deltek, or equivalent).
- Ensure data integrity for purchasing records to support audits, property accountability, and financial reconciliation.
- Generate reports and utilize Excel-based tracking tools to monitor procurement status, backlog, and delivery timelines.
- Order Tracking & Expediting
- Monitor and track the lifecycle of open purchase orders, including materials, supplies, and equipment. Provide real-time status updates to stakeholders on procurement actions and anticipated delivery schedules.
- Customer & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams (program management, logistics, property management) and external suppliers.
- Logistics & Supply Chain Support
- Assist in technical supply management activities including inventory tracking, cataloging, and requisitioning of repair parts.
- Support warehouse and property management operations as needed to ensure asset visibility and accountability.
- Utilize logistics systems such as GCSS-Army (if applicable) to support supply chain functions.
- Administrative & Compliance Support
- Perform administrative, ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal controls, audit requirements, and compliance frameworks (ISO 9001 / ISO 27001 if applicable). Support documentation and reporting requirements for government and internal audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and government procurement processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (data tracking, spreadsheets, reporting).
- Ability to manage multiple procurement actions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of supply chain and logistics operations, including inventory and material management.
- Familiar with CHESS.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Army logistics and procurement systems such as:
- GCSS-Army
- LIW, LIDB, ILAP
- FEDLOG / FLIS
- AESIP / DST
- SLAMIS
- Familiarity with Enhanced Dollar Cost Banding (EDCB) and Army supply processes.
- Experience supporting DoD contracts or working within a cleared environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Exposure to warehouse operations, property accountability, or asset management processes.
Clearance:
- DoD secret level clearance.
Education & Experience:
- 2-5 years of Property Management experience; related experience (management, asset visibility, and property management.
Location:
- Aberdeen company office.
- Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval.
Travel:
Only upon need.
