Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A registered nurse with Emergency Room expertise is needed for a contract assignment in Old Town, ME. This role is ideal for an RN licensed in Maine or holding a compact license, seeking to apply critical thinking and comprehensive nursing assessment skills in a dynamic emergency care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and physician orders.
  • Administer medications safely using the five rights principle and evaluate patient responses.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient status and care plans.
  • Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Assist with discharge planning and patient/family education to ensure thorough understanding.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current RN license in Maine or compact nursing license.
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting (up to 30 lbs), walking, standing, and patient transfers.
  • Up-to-date immunizations, including varicella, HepB (or declination), MMR, Tdap, and PPD; flu vaccination required during flu season.
  • Familiarity with emergency/disaster response protocols.
