Dog Daycare Driver & Enrichment Handler (Weekdays Only, No Nights/Weekends)
Schedule
- Operating hours: 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Shifts: 6.5 to 8 hours in length
- No evenings, weekends, or holidays
- Consistent availability required: 18–37 hours per week
- Additional days may be available based on client demand and staffing levels
- Optional additional work for candidates with fence building, repair, or handiwork experience (up to 5 hours per month)
- This job is perfect for people who work with dogs and would like to pick up hours.
Location
- All shifts begin and end in San Carlos, where you will pick up a company van.
- You’ll then drive your assigned route to pick up dogs, transport them to our ranch in Half Moon Bay, and return them home at the end of the day.
- The day ends back in San Carlos after drop-offs and parking the van.

Responsibilities
- Safe Transport: Drive a company van to pick up/drop off dogs, safely loading/unloading and following established routes. Memorize multiple stops, each dog’s special instructions, and adjust quickly when plans shift.
- Dog Handling & Group Management: Confidently manage groups of small and large dogs with energy and attentiveness. Learn and remember each dog’s personality, sensitivities, and friends.
- Enrichment Activities: Lead small groups of dogs through creative and stimulating sessions, including basic manners, leash work, agility routines, scent games, and other engaging activities.
- Documentation & Updates: Capture photos and short videos of enrichment activities and share updates with clients.
- Pack Walks: Lead group walks (1–2 miles daily). This role requires stamina, quick reactions, and agility.
- Safety First: Double-check handling notes, load order, gates, and transport safety to ensure dogs, teammates, and vehicles remain safe at all times.
- Communication Hub: Use Slack and other apps to share updates, photos, and notes in real time. Clear, responsive communication is essential.
- Team Contribution: Respect management and teammates, pitch in wherever needed, and take pride in contributing to the success of a small business.
Training
Previous dog handling experience is essential for the Enrichment role, we can train the right candidates in the other job requirements.
- Dog handling, group management, and safety protocols.
- Enrichment Program training, including guiding dogs through activities, documenting progress, and providing engaging updates.
- Technology use and team communication.
- Pick-up/drop-off protocols and route memorization.
- Dog photography and video for client updates.
- Customer service and professional client communication.
Qualifications
- Clean driving record; comfortable driving vans.
- At least 2 years of dog-handling experience is required.
- Physically able to lift/manage dogs up to 50 lbs, walk 1–2 miles daily, stay on your feet outdoors, and sit for lengths of time in the van.
- Technologically savvy with the ability to juggle multiple apps confidently throughout the day.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail, ensuring smooth operations and clear reporting.
- Reliable attendance and consistent availability are essential in our small-team environment.
- Positive, solution-focused attitude with clients and teammates.
- Flexible and team-oriented — willing to pitch in wherever needed, including supporting routes or enrichment.
- Patience and a great attitude, able to handle excited dogs and occasional barking.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
