The Role
Jupiter Power is looking to grow its financial operations team with the addition ofa Project Accountant.The Project Accountant will report to theDirector of Accounting Operationsandbe responsible foraccounting across a portfolio of projects andoperatingentities, supporting both transactional and analytical functions.
This role will be based out of our Chicago, Illinois officeand is subject to the Companys return-to-officepolicywhich currently requires employees to comeina minimum of three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of preparing journal entries across multiple GL accounts, including cash, prepaids, inventory, and revenue for a selection of operating or development and construction projects and the associated entities.
- Independently prepare and reconcile monthly and quarterly GL account activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Lead the review and analysis of monthly project trial balance activity, proactively identifying and explaining key variances, and proposing reclassification entries to correct miscoding of costs.
- Reconcile multiple cash accounts daily to accurately post AR and AP invoices
- Review AP invoices to ensure correct coding, identify discrepancies, and propose reclassifications as needed.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable team to provide training to increase the accuracy of cost and payment recording.
- Perform an essential role in month-end close.
- Provide support for financial audits including PBCs documentation, auditor coordination.
- Assist with debt covenants requirements such as draw requests.
- Perform administration tasks for various accounting systems.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills able to work effectively in a team environment and being attentive to timelines.
- Provenability to manage competing priorities in a high-volumeand high-growthenvironment.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and ability to analytically assess the GL and propose journal entries.
- Proficiencyin Microsoft Office(Excel, Outlook, and Word)isrequired.
- Experience workingat a multi-site organization preferred.
- Ability tomeetmonthly, quarterly,and annual deadlines.
- Desire to understand data, systems, and improve processes
- Curiosity to dig into details for discrepancies and propose solutions to resolve them
- Must have high attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
- Willingnessto take ownership and initiative to be to be effective within a highly motivated,fast-movingteam.
- Experience in the renewable energy industry preferred.
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct,Corpay, and/or Expensify(or similar platforms)is preferred.
Required Education&Experience
- Bachelors degree or higher education inAccountingfrom an accredited college or university
- 3-5yearsof experience including corporate accounting
- Advanced Excel skills pivot tables, lookup functions, creating organized schedules/models
Physical Requirements and Environment
This role is office-based with limited travel required. Candidates must be willing and able to work in a Jupiter Powerofficea minimum of three days per week. Candidates willbe requiredto sit or stand for extended periods of time and must be able tolift upto ten pounds repetitively.
Candidates will be requiredto pass a pre-employment background investigation and may be subject to drug tests as a condition of employment.
Compensation & Benefits
$95,000 - $105,000
Thispayrange reflects the minimum andmaximumtarget salary for the position.Jupiter Power considers a number of factors when determining starting compensation such as the position requirements and the candidate's qualifications.
In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility toparticipatein our bonus and equity programs.
