Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist – Abdomen / OB-GYN
Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Evening | 5x8 (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Variable shifts between 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM with rotating weekends
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist specializing in Abdomen and OB/GYN imaging to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams. This role involves working closely with physicians, assisting in specialized procedures, and ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the imaging process.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and explain procedures to ensure comfort and understanding
- Perform high-quality ultrasound imaging for Abdomen and OB/GYN studies
- Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment settings for optimal imaging
- Evaluate images for technical quality and diagnostic usefulness
- Assist physicians with special procedures, including needle biopsies
- Obtain and review patient history and relevant clinical information
- Maintain accurate and timely radiology records
- Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols
- Manage workflow efficiently to support productivity and patient care standards
- Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient confidentiality
Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Required Certifications & Licensure
- ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) credential
- Registered in Abdomen and OB/GYN (ARDMS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- All certifications must be active and maintained
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in selecting appropriate transducers and imaging techniques
- Ability to obtain and assess patient history and clinical data
- Experience in patient positioning and use of immobilization devices
- Strong patient communication and education skills
- Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided procedures and biopsies
- Ability to evaluate image quality and ensure diagnostic accuracy
- Knowledge of infection control standards and safety protocols
- Strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
