Salary Range:$17.13-DOE

At Mattawa Community Medical Clinic, our Dental Hygienists play a critical role in promoting oral health and preventing disease in our community. The Dental Hygienist provides professional preventative dental care, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth, applying sealants and fluoride, and educating patients about oral hygiene practices. This position supports the dental team and ensures patients receive high-quality, compassionate care in a culturally sensitive environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs oral health assessments, including charting, periodontal probing, and taking dental X-rays.
  • Provides preventative dental care, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealant applications.
  • Educates patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and habits that support dental health.
  • Assists the dentist during examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Documents treatment and patient education in the electronic dental record system.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols and sterilization procedures to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Monitors and maintains dental equipment and supplies within the hygiene operatory.
  • Coordinates patient care with front office staff, including scheduling, follow-ups, and treatment planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.

· Valid Washington state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.

· Current CPR certification.

· Strong knowledge of dental hygiene procedures, infection control, and dental health education.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work well with a team and deliver patient-focused care.
· Familiarity with dental software for charting and record-keeping is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program required.
  • Current Washington State Dental Hygiene License required.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification required.
  • At least one year of experience preferred, but new graduates will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of standing, bending, or sitting during procedures.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

· Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed dental work
