Job Description

Serves as the on-site administrative representative for the hospital on assigned shift: Manage, administrate and coordinate activities of Patient Care Services during assigned shift to ensure activities are consistent with Nursing and Organizational objectives, policies and procedures. Functions as a clinical and management resource. Serves as throughput coordinator: Assesses bed availability. Assigns rooms. Communicates with multidisciplinary departments internally and externally. Gathers and enters appropriate data into computer and PreAdmit Tracking for presenting admissions, observations, transfers and discharges.

  • Maintains effective communication and public relations with patients, medical staff, staff and visitors. Communicates as necessary with all departments to coordinate efforts, resolve operational problems, maximize patient throughput and improve patient care.
  • Responds to all emergencies and coordinates nursing and administrative functions during an emergency i.e. fire, disaster, bomb threat, etc.; directs personnel as outlined in the disaster plan.
  • Evaluates the quality of patient care through unit rounds, patient interviews, quality monitoring and direct observation of employee compliance with hospital policies, procedures and organizational objectives.
  • Participates in day-to-day managerial decisions and operations, such as interactions with physicians, personnel related duties and interactions with other departments.
  • Participates in the management functions of Patient Services Division; serves on committees as assigned; assists in development and implementation of division goals, objectives and budgets.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Required:
    • Education: Associate degree or diploma in nursing
    • Experience: Three years professional nursing, two years in a supervisory capacity preferred in an acute care environment
    • Licensure/Certification:
      • A valid Permanent Multi-State RN License from the state in which you reside is required
      • Should you hold a RN license from another Compact state, you are required to apply for and obtain a Multi-State RN License from the state in which you reside within 30 days
      • American Heart Association BLS CPR (must be obtained within 7 days of hire)
    • American Heart Association ACLS AND CPI required within orientation period (Notary within 90 days of employment preferred)

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing
    • Experience: Administrative supervisory experience preferred
