Job DescriptionVertical Mill/Programmer - 2nd shift - Temp to hire!
Our client in Lawrenceville, GA has an immediate opening for a Vertical Mill Machinist. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced CNC technology and is part of a company known for its commitment to employee training and development.

Shift of the Vertical Mill Machinist:

  • Monday-Friday 2:30pm-10:30pm
    • Training on 1st shift 6:30am-2:30pm for the first 2 months

Pay Rate of the Vertical Mill Machinist:

  • $25.00/hr - $28.80/hr

Responsibilities of the Vertical Mill Machinist:

  • Edit programs and occasionally create the program.
  • Works on assignments that are moderately complex to complex where independent judgment is routinely required.
  • Receives no instruction on routine jobs and only general instruction on new assignments.
  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC machines working from detailed blueprints, to perform a variety of machining operations such as: mill to specific tolerances
  • Set up, operate and maintain the Haas EC500 machine
  • Set up machine by inserting correct tools and fixtures according to blueprints.
  • Select operation sequences, tools, feeds and speeds
  • Devise new tools and fixtures for unusual operations by making machine adjustments and grinding or sharpening existing tools
  • Check dimensions on finished parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers
  • Perform QC using standard tools

Qualifications of the Vertical Mill Machinist:

  • Must be skilled in all aspects of setup and operation of the Haas vertical machining center.
  • Experience editing and programming CNC machines.
  • Must be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings of fabricated parts.
  • Must be able to read and write machine “G” code specific to Haas programming.
  • Must be experienced in the use of computer aided manufacturing software for light editing if necessary.
  • Must be familiar with basic inspection equipment micrometers, calipers, height gauge etc.
  • Must have good interdepartmental communication skills both verbal & written
  • Ability to setup and operate CNC Vertical Mill working from detailed blueprints
  • Ability to pay attention to small details
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of tools and clamping, speeds and feeds
  • Ability to lift 50lbs regularly
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years related work experience
