Rotating Machinery Services Inc. is looking for a Repair Engineer to join our team.
The Repair Engineer is responsible for leading repair activities of engineered rotating machinery within the Houston Repair facility for Rotating Machinery Services Inc. These activities include, but are not limited to, inspections, dispositions, recommended repairs, execution of the elected repairs, issuing of clear work instructions and making sure questions are answered promptly. The Houston Repair facilities repair a wide range of critical equipment such as centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, hot gas expanders, axial compressors, helical screw compressors, power turbines and integrally geared compressors.
The Repair Engineer is the recognized technical resources at the repair facility and will engage with recognized technical authorities, project management, suppliers and customer personnel as required to ensure the mechanical integrity of the repair and timelines of the repair activity.

ORGANIZATIONAL - EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

TECHNOLOGY - EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- SolidWorks, Ansys Workbench and PolyWorks experience required.
- Mechanical equipment design and function knowledge of turbomachinery preferred.
- Installation, assembly and disassembly knowledge of turbo machinery.
- Familiar with standard industrial repair practices knowledge of API-687 preferred.
PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a safe working environment and a commitment to safety excellence.
- Development of standard work procedures and templates to facilitate routine inspection and repair activities
- Develop project specific work scopes, work instructions and necessary inspection forms for assigned jobs.
- Review shop inspection reports and develop detailed reports for customer review.
- Promote, maintain and drive continuous improvement in support of increased productivity, quality and safety.
- Recommendations for upgrades where appropriate to improve equipment durability and/or extend mean time between repairs.
- Collaborate with design engineers utilizing drafting/CAD skills to generate detailed manufacturing and repair drawings.
- Technical contact for assigned repair projects.
- Evaluate and maintain awareness of evolving or developing repair techniques and technologies that could be effectively applied.
- Assessing repair quality issues through the NCR process and develop preventative solution.
- Assist in the interviewing and evaluation of new hires.
- Interface with other departments and suppliers as required to ensure project requirements are met on time.
- Participate in manufacturing team activities to meet identified goals.
- Achieving highest level of internal and external customer service.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of direct contact with turbomachinery overhaul, installation and maintenance, including shop and field involvement.
- Use of standard mechanical engineering analysis tools and software. Solidworks, Ansys Workbench and Polyworks Inspector are a plus.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Mechanical equipment design and function knowledge of turbomachinery preferred.
- Familiarity with inspection and quality control practices.
- Prior experience as a process leader and with implementing productivity tools preferred
- Familiarity with lean production techniques

REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- The position may be based in RMS’s South Houston, TX facility.
- This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week, averaging 45 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
- This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol test, and background check.
- Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
- Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. (with assistance), walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
- Must be able to use hands for assembling and tool usage
- While performing the duties of this position the employee will be required to stand, sit, bend, and walk for significant portions of the shift
- Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals, including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
- Authorized to work in the United States
- RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may enter a shop environment and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machine operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
