We specialize in placing rare technical talent: ML researchers, engineers, and computational scientists for teams pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
We're building a small, high-impact team and we're looking for our next great recruiter — someone hungry to learn, grow, and build a career in one of the most exciting talent markets in the world. If you're new to recruiting, this is the role that teaches you how to do it at the highest level.
The Role
As an Entry-Level Technical Recruiter at 1Five, you'll be trained from the ground up on full-cycle recruiting across a portfolio of AI-first startups and research organizations. From day one, you'll work alongside senior recruiters who will coach you on sourcing strategy, candidate engagement, client management, and closing — the full playbook.
This is a performance-driven role with uncapped earning potential, built for someone who is coachable, competitive, and genuinely excited about the AI talent space.
What You'll Learn & Do
In your first 90 days, you'll receive hands-on training in:
• How to partner with founders, CTOs, and heads of research to understand technical hiring needs
• Sourcing and engaging machine learning and AI candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, Juicebox, and other modern tools
• Full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, presenting, and closing candidates
• How to craft compelling outreach, tell a company's story, and position opportunities to passive candidates
• Tracking pipeline metrics and using ATS/CRM systems (we use Ashby) to manage your desk
As you ramp, you'll take ownership of:
• Building and managing relationships with top technical talent across AI research, data science, ML infrastructure, and computational science
• Delivering exceptional candidate experiences and acting as a trusted career advisor
• Contributing ideas to improve our sourcing strategies, outreach templates, and market mapping
• Running your own client searches with increasing autonomy
What We're Looking For
• 0–1 years of recruiting, sales, or client-facing experience — we will train the right person
• Strong written communication and people skills — you're a natural at building rapport
• Competitive drive and a genuine desire to be excellent at what you do
• Curiosity about AI, machine learning, and the startups shaping the future
• A self-starter mentality — you take initiative and don't wait to be told what to do
• Comfort with a performance-based compensation model and motivation by upside, not just a salary
Compensation
Base Salary + Commission — uncapped earning potential.
• Estimated OTE: $50,000–$70,000 for high performers
