Service Route Operator – Environmental Services

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dedicated and safety‑focused Service Route Operator to join our Environmental Services Department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our community receives efficient, reliable solid waste collection along established routes.
What You'll Do
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment
• Operate refuse trucks to collect refuse, recyclables, yard waste, and bulk waste
• Clean, deliver, and assemble refuse and recycling containers
• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of vehicles and equipment
• Assist with snow removal operations
• Provide excellent customer service and complete related duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
• Knowledge of solid waste collection methods and equipment
• Understanding of departmental procedures and safety regulations
• Ability to read maps and understand city geography
• Skill in operating refuse trucks and troubleshooting basic vehicle issues
• Ability to complete assigned routes efficiently and safely
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• One to two years of relevant experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship
• Valid Missouri Class B CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement
