Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts on an infectious disease-focused unit, requiring travel experience and a WV or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an 18-bed Medical-Surgical/Infectious Disease unit within an acute care hospital
- Patient population includes infectious disease, isolation, COVID, MRSA, C-Diff, and related conditions
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5-6, or 1:4 with COVID patients
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Travelers will be scheduled based on unit needs and may be required to float to other Med/Surg units
- Remote telemetry monitoring on the unit; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips
- Uses Epic EMR, with a one-day Epic orientation provided
- Block scheduling permitted as long as unit needs are met
- Unit has 24/7 charge nurse coverage and 2 CNAs per shift
- No cardiac drips required; Heparin and typical Med/Surg IV medications are common
- No ventilators; patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, or high flow managed by RT
- One day of unit orientation with a preceptor after Epic training, then independent practice
- Floating is required, with travelers being first to float; Telemetry assignments are within the RN's skill set
- Royal blue scrubs are required; only scrub jackets permitted, no hoodies or sweatshirts
- Travelers may be required to cover holidays based on unit staffing needs
- No local travelers permitted; must live outside a 50-mile radius
- Former WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break in service before returning as a traveler, and may not work at WVU facilities for more than one year consecutively

- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Med/Surg travel nursing experience required
- Strong knowledge of infectious disease care and isolation precautions
- Must submit an unexpired copy of driver's license for consideration
