Spray Line Operator/Wood Finisher

The Tongue & Groove Store is the Twin Ports' premier manufacturer of solid wood tongue & groove, flooring and millwork. We house some of the most sophisticated wood manufacturing equipment around and have experienced tremendous growth since we opened our doors in 2009.

What you'll need to do

  • Safely and efficiently operate spray machines, hand sprayers, orbital sanders, and other finish machinery.
  • Sand and coat a wide array of wood products with paint, lacquer, varnish, polyurethane, primer, and other finish products.
  • Recognize various finish materials and understand how they're used in the field.
  • Mix stain colors to achieve specific matching finishes per request.
  • Meet production deadlines and achieve a level of quality expected by the customer and the company.
  • Read a tape measure to the nearest 1/16 and perform various mathematical conversions and calculations.
  • Navigate and understand various spreadsheets, work orders, production forms, and other documents to adhere to company standards and produce to customer expectations.
  • Be able to bend, lift, twist, and carry up to 75 pounds, often many times daily.

What we're looking for

Education or experience in the world of manufacturing. Related schooling or working in an industrial environment will make transitioning into a new production line much quicker and more comfortable.

Loyalty, dedication, grit, and reliability. We don't require an unreasonable amount of schedule flexibility, as we typically work days and are off on weekends, so your attendance and determination during the regularly scheduled work week is of high importance.

Familiarity, knowledge, and organization. Having a background in finish materials will help a lot with becoming fluent with our products and processes. Entering with experience with stain, dye, lacquer, polyurethane, conversion varnish, waterborne coatings, paint, primer, and other finish products will give you a jump start into succeeding with us.
