As a valued member of our team, the Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource, Payroll and Recruiting departments, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance; and training and development.
  • Oversees payroll and recruiting departments.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Consults with management and team members to improve working relationships, build employee morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours to be determined. Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel Required: Up to 25%

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required or equivalent HR experience.
  • 10+ years of Human Resource Management experience required, including at least 5 years in a senior management role with broad experience in all HR functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Preferred Eligibility Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, construction/concrete manufacturing industry, with a diverse culture, is a definite PLUS!
