Position Summary:
Latvala Lumber is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Counter Sales/Estimator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys customer interaction, has knowledge of building materials, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You will assist customers at the counter, prepare material estimates, and assist with inventory tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
· Greet and assist walk-in and call-in customers with product selection and order placement
· Provide accurate material estimates and quotes for residential and light commercial projects
· Read and interpret blueprints or building plans
· Maintain a solid understanding of current product offerings and pricing
· Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
· Handle transactions and maintain a clean and organized counter area
· Support inventory control and restocking efforts as needed
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in building materials sales, construction, or estimating preferred
· Strong customer service and communication skills
· Ability to read blueprints and understand construction terminology
· Basic math and computer skills (experience with POS systems or estimating software is a plus)
· Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
