Role Overview
Is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Savannah, GA facility on second shift. In this role, the Machinist will independently interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and other technical data to determine tooling needs, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences. While the regular schedule is second shift (4pm-2:30am), new hires will complete 36 months of training on first shift to ensure a strong foundation for success.
Key Responsibilities

Independently set up and operate large CNC Lathes (110-220 ton)
Machine large gas turbine components to tight dimensional and geometric tolerances
Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for large forgings and castings
Optimize cutting parameters to improve quality, cycle time, and tool life
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues with minimal supervision
Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to support first-time-right builds
Maintain strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
Requirements
5-7+ years of CNC machining experience in heavy industrial manufacturing
Strong experience operating large lathes
Proven ability to machine large, tight-tolerance components
Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
Experience with alloy steels, carbon steels, stainless steels, and large forgings
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Willingness to work second shift (4pm-2:30am) after initial training period
