Part-Time Endocrinologist (23 hours/week) - New York, NY

The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHCS) is a multi-site healthcare network that includes a prominent medical center in Manhattan, facilities in Brooklyn and St. Albans, and two Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). NYHHCS is recognized as an academic institution with active teaching and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

This part-time Endocrinologist position is based at the Manhattan VA Medical Center and aligns with the Network's commitment to providing compassionate and excellent care to our Veterans. The role includes both inpatient and outpatient endocrinology services.

  1. Diagnose and manage a variety of endocrine disorders, such as diabetes, thyroid issues, adrenal conditions, and pituitary disorders.
  2. Deliver comprehensive endocrine care to veteran patients.
  3. Conduct outpatient clinic appointments and inpatient consultations.
  4. Create personalized treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  5. Order, perform, and interpret relevant diagnostic tests and procedures.
  6. Educate patients on managing their conditions, lifestyle modifications, and preventive strategies.
  7. Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
  8. Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
  9. Participate in research initiatives and contribute to advancements in endocrinology.
  10. Maintain thorough and accurate medical records in accordance with VA regulations.

This position qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers student loan repayment assistance. Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) apply.

Essential Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent from a school recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • A current, unrestricted medical or surgical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading to board certification eligibility.
