We’re working with a well-established, leading manufacturer in the CPG space that is searching for a Project Manager. This person will own a portfolio of projects from inception to commercialization that are vital to the growth plans of the company. The Project Manager will work with members across the organization, from the plant level to leadership personnel. This role is best suited for someone who thrives on moving quickly and efficiently while still following organizational processes and working well with a cross-functional team. This role will report to the Director of Project Management.

Location: Chicago, IL area with 25% travel to other facilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Autonomously and appropriately apply project management knowledge, processes, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities.
  • Create, track and take action on a detailed project plan with tasks, owners and due dates to ensure each project is completed on time.
  • Ushers the project through each phase of the stage gate process, including regularly presenting projects at various stages to leadership for approval.
  • Build a strong understanding of product development processes including formulation and packaging interdependencies, as well as learning the additional processes for FDA/EPA regulated items.
  • Following project management best practices and effectively guiding projects through the stage gate process will be essential.
  • Travel to the New York facility (one week per month) to help with projects at that plant as well.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager, preferably working in new product development in a consumer product/manufacturing space.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credential preferred.
  • Track record of leading projects to successful commercial outcomes, ideally in mid-size company.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer product manufacturing processes.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking
  • Excellent customer-facing and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and exercise independent decision making.
  • Ability to lead by influence, without direct authority.
