Job DescriptionDescription:

The Financial Support Specialist (Mon - Fri) reports to and supports the Controller in driving the financial and administrative processes to conduct the office administration and to generate reliable, transparent, and timely financial and administrative information needed by HFP to manage its entrusted resources and funds.

  • Work closely with program managers to track and report financial information related to grants.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly reports and other reports of financial activity related to grants.
  • Monitor the grant expenses to ensure timely and accurate submission for grant reimbursements.
  • Accurately enter, review and/or modify data using various software programs.
  • Meeting professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with clients and staff and present a positive and professional image through all communications.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work on a wide variety of tasks independently as well as in a team structure.
  • Technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability and willingness to learn new software as required.
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills; a proven ability to work unsupervised.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks as assigned.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Highly detail-oriented and capable of spotting small mistakes in documents.
  • Ability and willingness to perform detailed and repetitive tasks including data-entry and documentation.
  • Preferred - knowledge of Hope for Prisoners mission, values, and services.
  • Preferred – familiar with goals of reentry program.

Requirements:

Education:

Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.


Experience:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience working in non-profit financial management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Previous work experience with diverse populations.
  • Experience with EmployNV a plus.
  • Experience with Client Management Software preferred.
