About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join a well-established environmental and engineering consulting firm with a growing presence across the mid-Atlantic region. This position offers a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in geotechnical project delivery while contributing to business development and team management.
This is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong technical foundation, field experience, and a passion for delivering real-world solutions across civil infrastructure, energy, development, and environmental sectors.
Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution
Lead and manage geotechnical projects from investigation to final deliverables, including subsurface analysis, slope stability, bearing capacity evaluations, and repair recommendations. -
Team & Resource Management
Supervise junior engineers, field staff, and subcontractors. Ensure high-quality technical output through hands-on oversight, mentoring, and internal QA/QC procedures. -
Client Engagement & Business Development
Maintain and expand relationships with current and prospective clients. Participate in proposals, presentations, and client meetings. -
Technical Documentation & Reporting
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, technical drawings, and specifications in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. -
Field Coordination & Instrumentation
Oversee field investigations, monitor geotechnical instrumentation, and interpret data to support engineering analysis and recommendations.
Qualifications

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in PA, NJ, or MD (Geotechnical specialty preferred).

8–10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in a project management or consulting role.

Deep technical knowledge in:

Bearing capacity analysis

Slope stability and slip repair design

Geotechnical instrumentation and data interpretation

Proven ability to lead projects and manage teams in a client-focused consulting environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Experience preparing proposals, coordinating with subcontractors, and managing budgets is a plus.
