About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join a well-established environmental and engineering consulting firm with a growing presence across the mid-Atlantic region. This position offers a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in geotechnical project delivery while contributing to business development and team management.

This is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong technical foundation, field experience, and a passion for delivering real-world solutions across civil infrastructure, energy, development, and environmental sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Execution
    Lead and manage geotechnical projects from investigation to final deliverables, including subsurface analysis, slope stability, bearing capacity evaluations, and repair recommendations.

  • Team & Resource Management
    Supervise junior engineers, field staff, and subcontractors. Ensure high-quality technical output through hands-on oversight, mentoring, and internal QA/QC procedures.

  • Client Engagement & Business Development
    Maintain and expand relationships with current and prospective clients. Participate in proposals, presentations, and client meetings.

  • Technical Documentation & Reporting
    Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, technical drawings, and specifications in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Field Coordination & Instrumentation
    Oversee field investigations, monitor geotechnical instrumentation, and interpret data to support engineering analysis and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in PA, NJ, or MD (Geotechnical specialty preferred).

  • 8–10 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in a project management or consulting role.

  • Deep technical knowledge in:

    • Bearing capacity analysis

    • Slope stability and slip repair design

    • Geotechnical instrumentation and data interpretation

  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage teams in a client-focused consulting environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Experience preparing proposals, coordinating with subcontractors, and managing budgets is a plus.
