SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST


Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. The Senior Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive human resources (HR) support and serves as a trusted partner to employees and leadership. This role manages key HR functions—including but not limited to, recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, performance management, benefits administration, time and attendance and hiring processes—while ensuring an engaging, equitable and high-performing workplace. The Senior HR Generalist provides support and guidance to faculty and staff on policies, processes, conflict resolution and minor employee relations issues. The Senior HR Generalist also supports continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Support the full life cycle recruitment process including career fair registration, job postings, candidate screening/interviewing, job offers, etc.

  • Manage the onboarding process including E-verify, I-9 documentation, issuing assets/keys and other new hire documentation.

  • Support employer branding and candidate experience initiatives.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate and timely enrollment, updates and communication, including open enrollment and qualifying life events.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance brokers/carriers, wellness vendors and employee benefits questions.

  • Lead the planning and communication of employee wellness activities/events.

  • Manage reporting and documenting worker’s compensation incidents and claims.

  • Supports the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) with communication and documentation processes related to employee FMLA/ADA requests.

  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and leave pay.

Compliance & Policy

  • Ensure HR practices align with federal, state and local employment laws.

  • Support the communication and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.

  • Maintain employee records in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

  • Maintain employee records and collaborate with the HR Analyst to ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of all employee data.

  • Conduct audits of HR processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization as needed.

HR Operations

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees on HR-related matters.

  • Manage the annual contract renewal process for faculty, staff and seasonal employees.

  • Provide supporting documentation to the Business Office for payroll processing.

  • Support the CHRO on corrective/disciplinary actions, employee investigations and special projects as needed.

  • Promote a positive, inclusive work environment aligned with organizational values.

  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HR or related field; experience in an independent school, K-12 environment or non-profit preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and build strong relationships with faculty, staff and leaders.

  • Proactive, resourceful and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in HRIS systems, ADP and/or Google Office Suite preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Moderate noise associated with an office environment.

  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting up to 30 pounds may be required.
