Job DescriptionPayroll Specialist

Oakland, CA (hybrid)

Are you a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with accounting experience to support payroll processing and assist with day-to-day accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in delivering accurate financial data.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Review timesheets, employee records, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and payroll adjustments for accuracy.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
  • Support accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close activities.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and collaborate with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience with a strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or general ledger experience.
  • Experience with payroll software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Pay Details: $38.00 to $45.00 per hour
