We are looking to add a skilled part time optician (20 hours a week) to our team. Our opticians help style our patients in frames that complement our doctors’ prescriptions. These are the duties of our opticians:
- Help select properly fitting frame for patients from our stock
- Take appropriate frame and lens measurements for patients to send to the lab for order processing
- Provide a breakdown of vision insurance benefits to patients to educate patients on their coverage
- Order lenses from our contracting labs via online and telephone communication
- Take inventory of each of our frame lines to replenish frames sold
- Communicate with frame reps, view new products, to help select new frame offerings for our office
- Receive uncut lenses from contracted lens companies and separate them to appropriate patient tray to prepare lenses for processing
- Place patient uncut lenses into the lens edger, set proper parameters on the instrument for lens cutting, and oversee that the lens edger cuts uncut lenses properly to properly fit into the patient’s frame
- Take inventory of lab supplies such as nose pads, frame screws, lens cloths, and lens spray to note if ordering is needed to replenish supply
