Reports To: Director of Product Management

Job Summary:

The Product Owner (PO) contributes to the vision, strategy, and execution of our client-focused SaaS products in an Agile environment. This role possesses a strong interest in technology, advocate for user needs, and collaborate effectively across teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive value. This role is pivotal in ensuring the Food Management Services team achieves its mission by translating user feedback into actionable developments, aligning with organizational goals, and meeting key business KPIs.


Key Responsibilities:

Vision and Strategy:

  • Define, articulate, and drive an ambitious product vision aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure product vision and team goals align with business requirements.
  • Partner with Product Directors/Managers to define business value for each product and support messaging, communication, and customer outreach efforts.
  • Ensure day-to-day decisions, priorities, and sprint commitments consistently advance the product vision and long-term strategy.

Backlog and Prioritization:

  • Own and manage the product backlog, maintaining a prioritized pipeline that is 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Tech Leads, and Scrum Masters to determine which items should be expedited and included in the sprint.
  • Use market research, user feedback, and usability studies to translate needs into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate release planning with stakeholders and lead weekly or bi-weekly product demos.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work with the product delivery team to ensure Value Stream goals are met and foster alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, technology, business, and operations teams to push innovative solutions forward.
  • Establish and maintain a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, trust, and empowerment.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, and release planning to remove blockers and optimize team output.

Innovation and User-Centric Development:

  • Advocate for user needs and integrate client feedback into the product roadmap.
  • Encourage an experimental mindset, pushing boundaries to find new solutions and drive out-of-the-box ideas.
  • Incorporate usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance satisfaction and ensure customer-driven design.
  • Provide leadership that empowers team members to fail, learn, and grow.

Accountability and Communication:

  • Demonstrate strong ownership of product decisions and outcomes, communicating rationale and progress with transparency.
  • Be accountable for product-specific KPIs and communicate progress to stakeholders regularly.
  • Support the Product Manager in communicating changes to the Product Roadmap, keeping the team aligned and informed.
  • Ensure the Product Owner role remains distinct, allowing focus on backlog creation and management while enabling innovation and timely delivery.


Qualifications:

Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of or ability to learn about technology and digital products.
  • Proven experience working on technical products in an Agile environment, including managing backlogs and facilitating Agile ceremonies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with comfort engaging with senior business stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate the organization at a leadership level and make decisions that drive the team’s mission forward.
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile project management platforms.
  • Experience balancing user needs with organizational goals to prioritize and deliver value-driven products.
