Job DescriptionTitle: LPNReports to:Nurse Manager

Job Summary:

Assists with nursing care of patients, under supervision of RN.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Greets patient and provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient's right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
2. Stocks all areas of the Center with supplies, stocks refrigerators with nourishment for patients.
3. Takes vital signs including patient weights and reports them to RN. Documents appropriately in EMR.
4. Performs Point of Care Testing, including Blood Glucose, Pregnancy, and Drugs of Abuse as per RN.
5. Assists in the monitoring of patients' physical symptoms and behavioral changes. Reports any concerns to RN.
6. Administers preoperative and/or postoperative medications within LPN scope of practice under guidance of the RN. Documents appropriately in EMR.
7. Provides nourishments for patients under supervision of RN.
8. Assists patients in and out of bed and to the bathroom as per RN.
9. Assist patient in dressing as needed.
10. Provides patients and families with discharge instructions per the RN. Documents appropriately in EMR.
11. Escorts the patients to car after discharge.
12. Cleans equipment in all areas of the Center according to manufacturer's recommendations and stores equipment safely.
13. Performs room turnover and appropriate room cleaning in all areas of the Center in accordance with Center policy. Northtowns Ambulatory Surgery Center Policy and Procedure Manual
14. Performs preoperative and postoperative patient phone calls and documents appropriately in EMR.
15. Schedule procedures in EMR as needed.
16. Performs other clerical tasks as needed.

Education and Experience:

1. Graduate of school for Practical Nursing.
2. Active LPN license.
3. Prior experience in a physician's office or health care setting.
4. Able to speak, read, and write in English.

Physical/Mental Requirements

1. Ability to sit/stand for a considerable amount of time; ability to walk.
2. Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment.
3. Ability to perform occasional overhead and low reaching.
4. Physical strength required for equipment needs and patient-care activities.
5. Visual and auditory acuity for timely responsiveness and patient-care assessment activities.
6. Ability to move quickly in response to center needs.
7. Constant and frequent judgment and response.
8. Occasional judgment and response to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drills.

Working Conditions (Environmental)

1. Well-lit and ventilated, with non-hazardous and hazardous equipment.
2. Category I: involves occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and materials.
