Employer: COMPA Industries

Job Type: Contract / Full-Time

Pay Rate: $95/hr – $105/hr

Work Schedule: Full-Time (5/8s, 4/10s, or 9/80s as approved)

Location: Savannah River Site (Aiken, SC) – Onsite / Limited Telework as Approved

Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance (active clearance not required at start)

🔬 Position Overview

COMPA Industries is seeking a highly experienced Radiochemist to support Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). This role provides senior-level technical expertise in radiochemistry and radiobioassay, with a strong focus on method development, data quality, laboratory oversight, and mentoring scientific staff in a DOE nuclear environment.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve, and troubleshoot radiochemical and radiobioassay analytical methods
  • Perform and oversee radiochemical separations, including ion-exchange column techniques
  • Support environmental and radiobioassay laboratories with advanced radiochemical expertise
  • Improve analytical turnaround times and laboratory efficiency
  • Review, validate, and ensure quality control of radiological data sets
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to scientific and laboratory staff
  • Support radiological detection and measurement activities
  • Collaborate with laboratory and site technical teams to ensure compliance with DOE and SRNS requirements

🎓 Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Physics, or related physical science with 15–20 years of relevant experience
  • OR
  • Master’s degree with reduced years of experience
  • OR
  • PhD in Radiochemistry (preferred) with proportionally reduced experience

🧪 Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in radiochemical separation techniques (including ion-exchange methods)
  • Radiobioassay laboratory experience and method development expertise
  • Strong background in radiological detection and measurement systems
  • Experience with data review, validation, and quality control of radiological results
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior scientists
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical environments

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Radiochemistry
  • Prior DOE or nuclear laboratory experience
  • Experience supporting environmental or radiobioassay laboratories
  • Prior SRNS or Savannah River Site experience

🔐 Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Security Clearance
  • Active clearance not required to start
