Electrical Estimator

Location: Hartford County, CT – Onsite

Work Model: In-office with occasional site walk-throughs


A well-established commercial electrical contractor is seeking a Electrical Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts on complex commercial projects. This role is ideal for an estimator with hands-on electrical estimating experience who is looking to grow within a structured, high-performing preconstruction team.


The organization focuses exclusively on commercial and mission-critical electrical construction, with a strong emphasis on healthcare and hospital systems. No residential work.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Prepare and complete all pre-bid documentation
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on bids — follow-up is critical to success in this role
  • Respond to RFIs and client questions during the preconstruction phase
  • Identify scope gaps, risks, and pricing concerns within estimates
  • Present bid risks and issues to senior leadership as needed
  • Participate in job site walk-throughs to confirm scope, materials, and site conditions
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, clients, and internal teams
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of commercial electrical estimating experience (junior to mid-level)
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience performing electrical takeoffs and bid preparation
  • Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining accuracy
  • Estimating software experience required
  • Accubid/ConEst strongly preferred
  • Bluebeam experience preferred

  • Competitive base salary: $90,000 – $120,000, depending on experience
