Electrical Estimator
Location: Hartford County, CT – Onsite
Work Model: In-office with occasional site walk-throughs
A well-established commercial electrical contractor is seeking a Electrical Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts on complex commercial projects. This role is ideal for an estimator with hands-on electrical estimating experience who is looking to grow within a structured, high-performing preconstruction team.
The organization focuses exclusively on commercial and mission-critical electrical construction, with a strong emphasis on healthcare and hospital systems. No residential work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Prepare and complete all pre-bid documentation
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on bids — follow-up is critical to success in this role
- Respond to RFIs and client questions during the preconstruction phase
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and pricing concerns within estimates
- Present bid risks and issues to senior leadership as needed
- Participate in job site walk-throughs to confirm scope, materials, and site conditions
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, clients, and internal teams
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of commercial electrical estimating experience (junior to mid-level)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, drawings, and specifications
- Experience performing electrical takeoffs and bid preparation
- Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Estimating software experience required
- Accubid/ConEst strongly preferred
- Bluebeam experience preferred
