Position Overview
The EBP Audit Senior is responsible for leading and performing audits of employee benefit plans in accordance with ERISA, DOL, and GAAP requirements. This is a fully remote opportunity within a mid-sized, nationwide CPA firm. The ideal candidate brings strong technical audit skills, prior EBP audit exposure, and the ability to guide junior staff while maintaining excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute employee benefit plan audit engagements (including 401(k), 403(b), pension, and health/welfare plans).
- Ensure audits comply with ERISA, DOL regulations, and firm quality standards.
- Prepare and review audit work papers, financial statements, and related deliverables.
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior staff throughout audit phases.
- Communicate audit findings, timelines, and expectations clearly to clients and internal leadership.
- Stay current on accounting and regulatory updates affecting employee benefit plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver efficient and high-quality audit services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA license or active CPA eligibility is required.
- 3+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on audit.
- Strong understanding of employee benefit plans and ERISA requirements.
- Prior experience with nonprofit organizations is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a remote environment
