Outside Spaces NW – Full-Time Construction Lead / Skilled Carpenter
Outside Spaces NW is seeking a full-time, experienced Construction Lead / Skilled Carpenter to join our growing team. We specialize in high-quality residential construction with a focus on outdoor living and custom carpentry. This is a leadership role for individuals who can take ownership of projects, maintain production efficiency, and uphold professional craftsmanship standards.
Position Overview:
Lead and execute residential construction projects including decks, patio covers, pergolas, outdoor structures, and interior finish carpentry. This role requires strong field leadership, technical skill, and the ability to manage job sites from start to finish.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead job site operations, crew direction, and workflow sequencing
- Perform and oversee layout, framing, decking, railing systems, and finish carpentry
- Construct decks, patio covers, pergolas, stairs, railings, storage structures, and exterior features
- Execute interior carpentry tasks (trim, framing, remodel components, custom builds)
- Interpret plans, drawings, and scopes; ensure accuracy and code compliance
- Maintain quality control, jobsite safety, and production timelines
- Coordinate materials, deliveries, and site logistics
- Communicate professionally with clients and management
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years hands-on carpentry/construction experience (lead experience preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of framing, structural layout, and exterior construction systems
- Proficiency with decking systems (PVC/composite), railing installs, and waterproofing concepts
- Strong understanding of building codes, best practices, and jobsite safety standards
- Ability to read plans, take measurements, and problem-solve in the field
- Skilled with all standard carpentry tools and equipment
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azek/TimberTech, steel railing systems, and exterior finish products
- Experience leading small crews or subcontractors
- General contracting or multi-trade knowledge (siding, doors/windows, remodels)
